# Finish a repair and print the repair sheet

- **MCP resource:** rdmbench://help/repair-sheet
- **Version:** 0.2.0
- **Runs on:** macOS 15 Sequoia or later, Apple silicon or Intel
- **Needs:** An Enttec DMX USB Pro with its DMX/RDM firmware (major version 2)
- **Price:** Free

When the work is done, **Finish Repair** marks the unit as going back:
it records where the fixture's readings are, resets the lamp counters
if a new lamp went in, and takes a closing report. The **repair sheet**
is the page that goes back with the unit. It covers what the customer
said was wrong, what the bench found and did, and how the unit leaves,
written for someone who is not a tech.

## Finishing a repair

Select the fixture and choose **Fixture → Finish Repair…** (⇧⌘F) *(macOS)*.

- **New lamp fitted** sets lamp hours and lamp strikes back to 0. It is
off for a fixture that reports no lamp hours.
- **Record every sensor's value** stores each sensor's reading in the
fixture. On the unit's next visit, a reading that has moved from that
value has moved since it left this bench.
- **What was done** is your note: "replaced fan, reseated ribbon". It
is kept against the closing report.

A counter or a record the fixture refuses is a line in the result, not
a failure. The unit is going back either way, and the sheet says what
could not be done.

From the command line, `rdmbench-cli finish 4D50:0A1B2C3D --new-lamp`
does the same, and `--note TEXT` adds your note.

## The repair sheet

Choose **Fixture → Repair Sheet…**, or **Repair Sheet…** on the last
page of Finish Repair. The sheet shows as the page it will be. Choose
**Save as PDF…** to keep or email it, or **Print…**.

It reads, in order:

- **The unit:** make, model, label, UID, firmware, and the DMX address
and mode it leaves set to.
- **Came in for:** the complaint, with the lines of the report that
explain it, or the sentence that nothing the fixture reports does
  (see [Came in for](/help/report/#came-in-for)).
- **What we found:** everything the report taken when the work began
  rated above OK.
- **What was done:** your notes from this repair, then what the bench
did: counters reset (with what they read before), sensors recorded,
and any change of firmware, mode or address between the first report
  and the last.
- **Checked by eye:** when you [walked the channels](/help/channel-walk/)
during this repair, how many of the channels you passed or failed
worked, then each one that didn't, with your note.
- **Under load:** each [load test](/help/load/) run during this
repair, from the app, the command line or an assistant: how hard
and for how long the unit ran, each reading that changed, and
whether a fault appeared while it ran.
- **How it leaves:** the closing report's verdict, its hours and
counters, and anything it still reports.

The sheet only reads what the bench has saved. Nothing is asked of the
fixture, so it works with the unit unplugged, and for a unit finished
in an earlier session.

## Which repair it covers

The sheet is for the unit's latest repair. A repair starts with the
first report taken after the unit's previous Finish Repair, or its
first report ever, and ends with the next Finish Repair. Notes and the
complaint from earlier repairs are left out.

If the unit has not been through Finish Repair since it came in, the
sheet is still written, from its latest report, and says so. That is
the sheet for a unit you only looked at.

## Your shop's name

Set it once in **Settings → General → Repair Sheet**: the shop's name
on the first line, then phone, email or address, a line each. It is
printed at the top of every sheet.

## From the command line

`rdmbench-cli sheet 4D50:0A1B2C3D` prints the same sheet as Markdown,
for a ticket or an email. Add `--shop TEXT` for the header, with `\n`
between its lines, `--json` for the whole sheet as data, and `--locale`
for the customer's language. The bench's own sentences follow it; your
notes and the fixture's own text are kept as written.
